9 Heartbreak Songs For Valentine’s Day

February 12, 2016

Whilst there’s nothing quite like a heartbreak to make you think the world is coming to end, if you’re lucky enough, you’ll find the perfect song that echoes your feelings down to the letter – and sometimes that is the perfect medicine.

Here are some of our favourite tales of woe – some will undoubtedly hit home, whilst others you will just think are simply achingly beautiful.

When you’re overwhelmed by yearning.
Jeff Buckley – Lover, You Should’ve Come Over

When you’re caught up in the daily grind and an endless spiral of sadness.
Sade – King of Sorrow

When it’s too late to fix things and guilt is eating you alive.
Willie Nelson – Always On My Mind

When love is toxic, but too overpowering to let go of.
Big Brother & The Holding Company – Piece of My Heart

When moving on seems impossible and the only relief is staying trapped in your inner world.
Leonard Cohen – In My Secret Life

When you’re sucked in against your better judgement, but the fairytale ends up in bitter abandonment.
Tori Amos – A Sorta Fairytale

When you think the whole Universe conspired to bring someone in your life, only to see your love fall apart.
Dry The River – No Rest

When the smallest physical details of a lost love are hauntingly vivid
Keaton Henson – Small Hands

When the deepest, most nurturing love isn’t enough to hold two people together.
Broken Bells – Leave It Alone
